Retesting the DNA

I think that it's important to realise that the original DNA evidence was not really "inconclusive", the issue was that the DNA was in very small samples and in some cases degraded so they could not get to the probabilistic level of confidence required for admissibility in Court under EU law. Ironically, had the accident happened in the US or pre EU, UK which had lower standards it would most likely have been admissible. What they obfuscated however was this was not a search for a bomber who might theoretically be anyone on the planet, but the question of whose blood was splattered on the walls, curtain and sofa in Flat 5a. If the only options are Kate, Maddie, Sean and Amelie (I believe it was mtDNA they were examining which is passed down the female line) and Kate, Sean and Amelie are alive and kicking whereas Maddie has not been seen for the last 12 years, it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to deduce the answer. The importance of getting the DNA retested is not so much to find the answer but to remove the fig leaf that the McCanns and their cronies have been hiding behind for the last 12 years. You can expect them to hang on to that fig leaf with every trick they can muster.
